Robert Englund, a founding partner of MRE with more than 15 years in commercial brokerage, is a residential investment specialist focused on the Berkeley and Oakland area market.

Englund's annual business volume, well into the tens of millions, recently earned him a top-rated slot on the San Francisco Business Times list of top commercial real estate producers.

Englund's career before real estate included overseas postings for Bechtel and, regionally, as on-staff consultant for a leading Northern California syndicator.

Robert is a Berkeley native and property owner.  He serves on the board of directors of the Berkeley Property Owners Association, and holds the advanced Certified Commercial Investment Member designation (CCIM), and further certification as an Equity Marketing Specialist (EMS).

Only rarely does he skydive dressed as Santa Claus.

Matt Gondak

Representing property owners, buyers and tenants for more than 20 years, Matt Gondak specializes in the leasing and sale of commercial real estate throughout Greater Berkeley and contiguous cities. His markets of practice include Berkeley, Emeryville, Oakland, Albany, El Cerrito and Richmond.

Matt, a graduate of U.C. Berkeley, there having studied extensively in the Business Administration Department, offers clients a broad-based expertise in commercial leasing and sales, consulting often on market conditions and current valuations. He resides in Marin County with his wife and two daughters.

Erik Housh, Managing Partner

Erik Housh has remained active in commercial real estate as both a manager and salesperson since 1986. Prior to founding MRE in 1992, he built the commercial division of Mason-McDuffie Real Estate into one of the largest commercial brokerages in the Bay Area -- eventually expanding the agent roster to 35. He was the top salesperson at Mason-McDuffie his first month in the business. And in terms of business volume, each of the last 19 years Housh remained one of the top two performing brokers at MRE Commercial Real Estate.

A lifelong resident of the East Bay, in addition to the sale, exchange and leasing of commercial, office and industrial properties in the East Bay Area, Housh focuses on commercial rehab, conversion and development projects. He often acts as consultant to clients undertaking development and redevelopment projects. Housh also manages select commercial and office properties for longtime clients.

Housh's more recent projects include:

  • The redevelopment of a 45,000-square-foot auto dealership building in Downtown Berkeley to a mixed use project comprising 155 residential units and 20,000 square feet of retail;

  • The sale, complete renovation and lease up of an 18,000-square-foot professional/medical office building at El Cerrito Plaza;

  • The sale, complete renovation, lease up and management of a multi tenant shopping center in El Cerrito shadow-anchored by Marshalls;

  • And the development, lease up and management of a 15,000-square-foot office property in Emeryville.

Recent transactions include:

  • A multi-party / multi-property / multi-state $12 million investment property exchange;

  • The sale of a 22,500-square-foot retail property in downtown Berkeley;

  • And the sale disposition assignment of a 21,000-square-foot world-class religious facility near UC Berkeley.

Erik currently resides in Piedmont with his wife and two children and spends much of his spare time coaching the Oakland Technical High School baseball team.

Robert Lee

Robert Lee brokers and consults on investments and development in the Western U.S. and Pacific Rim, with particular focus in Japan, Korea and Taiwan. He has long experience with international business, real estate investment, project development and strategic planning. On behalf of domestic and offshore clients, he has facilitated the sale and acquisition of properties ranging from large office and apartment complexes, to golf courses, hotels and resorts.

Lee, born in South Korea, came to the United States in 1960. In 1973, he received a BS degree in engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. In the mid-Seventies he worked for the U.S. Department of Defense as an Inspector / Engineer in the Pacific Rim, and was an engineering consultant to the University of California at Berkeley.

In 1977, Lee joined Nakamura Realty, where he became the highest producing associate with a specialization in high-end residential sales and investments. In 1988, he became President of Growers Properties, the commercial subsidiary of Nakamura. There he handled the structuring of limited partnerships to develop apartment, office, retail and warehouse projects throughout the U.S.

In 1992, Lee was appointed Vice President and Managing Director for the commercial real estate firm, Realty Investments. For seven years he directed the sales staff and personally specialized in investments and joint ventures for acquisitions and developments in the U.S. and overseas. He joined MRE in early 1999 as an Executive Director and partner.

A commercial real estate broker with more than 25 years specializing in the leasing and sale of office and retail properties, Roger Mills has also realized  numerous sales of apartment buildings, leased investments, raw land and industrial properties.

Mills has successfully completed hundreds of transactions throughout Northern California, with an emphasis on the East Bay Area, including Richmond, San Pablo, Pinole, Berkeley, Emeryville and Oakland. His most recent transactions include the sale of a 42,000 square foot retail center, the lease of a 20,000 square foot retail site to 98 Cent stores, the leasing of business offices to Contra Costa County, the leasing of a build to suit site to a national restaurant tenant and numerous leases for H&R Block.

In 1996, Mills earned the advanced Certified Commercial Investment Member designation (C.C.I.M.) from the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute (CIREI).

Richard Odenheimer, Co-Founding Partner

Since he entered the field of commercial real estate in 1987, Richard Odenheimer’s practice has expanded to include virtually all aspects of the business and all property types. His geographic scope of operations extends throughout the Greater San Francisco Bay Area, including the South Bay and Marin County.

In 1992 Odenheimer co-founded MRE Commercial Real Estate and was designated the company's "Broker of Record". Prior to joining MRE he served with Mason McDuffie Real Estate's Commercial Division. In his final year with that long-established East Bay firm, he ranked as the top producing agent in the division. During MRE's approximate 20-year history, he has consistently remained the company's top producer; selling, leasing and managing retail, warehouse, office and multi-family properties collectively valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

In addition to Odenheimer's practice in the sale of investment properties, a substantial and expanding roster of clients entrust with him the management and leasing of their commercial and multi-family properties. Clients range from a $30-billion-dollar national REIT with major local holdings to local families owning one or two investment properties.

Odenheimer also remains active in the leasing of commercial properties throughout the Bay Area and over the years he has successfully negotiated and completed hundreds of office, industrial and retail leases.

Recent brokerage transactions include:

  • The sale of a 42,000-foot warehouse building in Richmond's Marina Bay area;
  • The acquisition of a +/-30,000-foot mixed use building one block from Oakland's Rockridge Bart along upscale College Avenue;
  • The acquisition of a 70-unit apartment building in Oakland's Rockridge District;
  • Serving as their Northern California Exclusive Rep, successfully assisting a national retail chain in leasing 14 stores (and counting!) around the greater Bay Area in just an eight-month period;
  • The acquisition and final lease-up of a high profile 11,000-square-foot Emeryville shopping center;
  • Represented a corporate tenant in the lease of 10,000 feet of Class A office in downtown Oakland;
  • The acquisition of several multi-family investment properties, including 18 units in Albany, 36 units in Oakland and others.

Just a few of his current and recent commercial property management assignments are:

  • Mixed use and residential properties along the high-end Bridgeway Boulevard in Sausalito;
  • Office and retail properties in downtown Berkeley for a major national REIT;

Odenheimer is a lifelong resident of the Bay Area. He is an avid skier, hiker, and enjoys exploring (by foot) some of the most remote corners of the globe; most recently the high country of Bhutan. He has volunteered many hours and taken a variety of leadership roles in various community organizations. A graduate of California State University, San Jose, he now resides in Piedmont.

Toby Parks

In the summer of 2010, furthering his established practice representing Bay Area commercial owners and tenants, Toby Parks brought to MRE a personal work ethic based in total dedication to client service and a professional drive powered by exceptional energy and enthusiasm. Focusing on the markets of Emeryville, Berkeley, Oakland and Richmond, he is also active in the management of commercial and residential income properties.

After attending the University of California at Irvine, Toby returned to again take up residence in the Berkeley area. When not active in commercial property leasing, sales and management, Toby typically spends his off hours in the company of his wife and two daughters. Occasionally (when they permit), he might be observed hiking and mountain biking the hills of the East Bay, or rock climbing in more mountainous terrain.
